MeitY issued a notice to Meta on Saturday 4 July 2026 directing it to disable Instagram ads and content promoting or facilitating child sexual abuse material. Meta was asked for a detailed explanation within seven days, after a BBC investigation into Instagram ads.

MeitY notifies Online Gaming Rules 20264567
MeitY notified the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules 2026 on 22 April, effective 1 May. They set up the Online Gaming Authority of India under MeitY, a test to decide whether a game is an online money game, and mandatory registration for e-sports, with a digital certificate valid up to ten years.
- Notified 22 April 2026; in force from 1 May 2026
- Creates the Online Gaming Authority of India, an attached office of MeitY steered by a senior MeitY official with representatives from Home, Finance, Law and I&B
- Determination test for online money games, to be completed within 90 days
- Registration mandatory for e-sports (and notified social games); digital certificate valid up to 10 years
- An online money game cannot be recognised or registered as an e-sport

MeitY announced DHRUV64, a 1.0 GHz dual-core 64-bit processor developed by C-DAC. It uses the open-source RISC-V architecture and is built on a 28 nm process.
