   President Zardari suspended the PTI-led provincial government under Articles 232 and 234, citing law and order and counter-terror cooperation.

   • President Asif Ali Zardari signed the proclamation on 11 October 2026 on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's advice
   • Emergency under Article 232 and governor's rule under Article 234 imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
   • Governor Faisal Karim Kundi (PPP) took over provincial government functions
   • Cited terrorism and law and order; PTI, which governed the province, rejected the move

   Pakistan court sentences Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 17 years²³⁴

   A Pakistani court on 20 December convicted former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on corruption charges and gave each a 17-year prison term.

   • Date: 20 December 2025
   • Special court in Rawalpindi (hearing inside Adiala Jail) gave Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi 17 years each
   • Toshakhana-II case over a Bulgari jewellery set gifted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
   • Both also fined about Rs 16.4 million; appeal to Islamabad High Court planned
