   Pahalgam attack suspect Hashim Moosa killed in Budgam encounter¹

   Security forces killed Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Hashim Moosa (Mohammad Asif) in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, around 29-30 September. He is described as a key suspect in the 2025 Pahalgam attack.

   • Indian Army confirmed on 30 September 2026 that Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa was killed in a counter-terror operation in Budgam district, J&K
   • Operation began on the night of 29 September near Korag, Yousmarg
   • Described as wanted in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack

   India designates 23 JeM and LeT operatives as terrorists²³⁴

   On 4 July 2026 the Union Home Ministry designated 23 Pakistan-based JeM and LeT operatives as terrorists under the UAPA. The list includes close associates of Hafiz Saeed such as Abdul Rauf, Hafiz Khalid Waleed and Rana Iftikhar, and Jaish functionary Masood Ilyas Kashmiri. Reports differ on nationality split: Amit Shah's statement says 17 Pakistani and 6 Indian nationals, Outlook says 16 and 7.
