   Ganges Grandmasters win Global Chess League Season 4¹²

   Ganges Grandmasters beat defending champions Alpine APL Pipers 7-5 over two legs in Bengaluru on 13 September 2026 for their first Global Chess League title.

   • Final on 13 September 2026 in Bengaluru; first leg 3-3, overall 7-5
   • Ian Nepomniachtchi beat Magnus Carlsen; Stavroula Tsolakidou beat Humpy Koneru
   • GCL is promoted by Tech Mahindra and FIDE

   Magnus Carlsen wins sixth World Rapid title in Doha; Humpy and Arjun take bronze³⁴

   At the FIDE World Rapid Championship in Doha, Magnus Carlsen won his sixth world rapid title. Aleksandra Goryachkina won the women's rapid title after a playoff, and India's Koneru Humpy took the women's bronze, with Arjun Erigaisi reported as open bronze medallist.
